New tunes!

Being selectors and doing radioshows we have the privilige of getting new tunes every now and then from managers and labels. This week we got a new song from Bounty Killer named "Killa Talk" released on the Mad Dog riddim from Black Shadow (big up!). The riddim is quite slow and simple in it's production which is something I like. A bit like the G-string riddim if you know what I mean but without the "bounceyness"? It also has that classic short fill of strings in the end of each bar like in Bellyas and many others has. The song features the "Poor Peoples Governor" reasoning about the wickedness going down in the ghetto and is quite raw with it's realistic lyrics.

Next up is Mr. Vegas who keeps on spitting out tunes like always and this time we got hooked up with three. First off is a song called "Blood Stain" over a riddim named Tremor. Both the song and the riddim reminds me a lot of Movado's song on Redbull & Guinness and sounds really nice. I like this one! Next tune is called "Let Dem R.I.P.". I like the riddim complete with 80's style "orchestra strike sound" and the lyrics are aight. The third tune is more of a hiphop song. "Turn Up Da Radio" floats nice over beats where I think I recognize the snare from an old BoogieDownProductions-song. Vegas sends his respect to the U.S.-massive and the song has a good hook (sounds a bit like Snow's "Informer" actually!)
We'll probably play them on our next show so don't forget to log on!

Fashiontip from Nickelodeon!

Just back from a trip to Poland alongside Fort Knox and Richie Riott, Nickelodeon sent me a picture with his latest catch from the shoppingstreets of Krakow. I've tried to reach our guru, Fashionlion for a comment but unfortunately with no result. A bubbler on this weeks "veckans najs" perhaps?
Log on!

Happy People visits Tuff Tuesdays!

Mr. Najsheden, the creator of Happy People visits the show tomorrow. He'll be talking about his recent trips i Europe, the new collection and other stuff. He might even take part of the "Trumpetskola" part 2. He who listens finds out.

Fettisdag = Fat Tuesdays!

Today is "Fettisdagen". I actually can't remember why we celebrate this day (let me know by posting a comment) but the main thing we do in Sweden is eating "semlor". Either just as they are with whipped cream or as a "hetvägg" (eng. hot wall) with warm milk. I prefer the regular one. Anyway, tonight in Tuff Tuesdays we've renamed the show to Fat Tuesdays and will test out a few pairs of semlor to see which one is the best. Might even play "Miss Fatty" by Million Stylez to celebrate the great day. We'll also have the premiere of our new segment which is the "Trumpet Skola" (eng. trumpetschool) where FlexBoss and Nickelodeon are gonna try to learn how to play the trumpet and hopefully by the end of this season we'll be able to play the classic musicshool-tune "Broder Jakob".
Tune in to Vibes46 tonight between 18.00-20.00 (swedish time) to hear how it goes.
Also, Reggae-Anders is with us in the studio and Mr. Fashionlion is back with a new fashionreport plus his much appreciated "Veckans Nice"-list.
Halla halla!

Liveitup Studio on the move!

The new venue for infamous studio Liveitup, the second home of producers Mastah-L and Nick Poncho is finally finished! Moving all the way from "Vilda Väsby" to Gärdet in Stockholm has taken it's time but now it's finally finished. I ain't got no pictures on how it looks but on their homepage you'll find pictures from the whole process of building a top notch studio from scratch. Big tings a gwaan!

ps. it's still nothing compared to FlexBoss's new "studio"ds.

Latest show!

Check out the latest Tuff Tuesdays by clicking the text "Tuff Tuesdays Radio" on the top right in the audiosection of this blog. In this weeks program Reggae-Anders did a special with exclusively Xterminator-tunes and Nickelodeon played three exclusive songs from Governor Andy's new album set to be released some time around april. My favourite has got to be "Fäbojäntan". This and a lot more in the latest show. Tune in!

Sneak preview - Happy People

The founder and owner of our favourite streetwearbrand Happy People, Thomas aka. Najsheden gave me a call yesterday. He's on his way to do a little trip around Europe starting with the Copenhagen fashionweek to meet dealers and others involved in the fashionscene, some stops in Stockholm (hookup-time next weekend) and Malmoe (why?) and then some time in Paris. This man is truly a globetrotter. Anyway, he sent me this photo taken with his mobilphone of a piece from his new collection which besides the photgraphed item has a lot och crazy, strong colors he told me. You can get in touch with Thomas through his blog.

The hood comes with a print that is a traditionall samish pattern, which is where Thomas has his roots, and has details in deerbone and leather. Looking really, really nice I must say and very original. I'll have one size M thank you. Good work man!

Last weekend...

... I once again (after gone bowling earlier where I crushed the competition!) ended up at hipsterfavourite Olssons Video where I met Mr. Fashiolion. He had just returned from a trip to Japan checking out the latest sneakers and with him was the secret guest from our "Julspecial 2006"-show in Tuff Tuesdays - Det Externa Skägget (eng. The External Beard). Big up!
Both where pretty drunk and so was I. In fact so drunk that when I woke up the morning after I had gotten a rather unusuall hangover - the flu.

Perhaps that's why I suddenly have a lot of time to work on this blog?

I hate beeing sick!

New tunes!

As some of you already know, Million Stylez has a new song out. The tune is called "X Amount A Gyal" and has been recorded over the fantastic riddim Tsunami Punnany produced by Mastah-L. A pure dancehallsweeper with nice flow from Million and a seriously wicked riddim makes this a Combat-favourite right now.

Richie Riott, another Combat-favourite who we often play in Tuff Tuesdays keeps on popping out new stuff. This time he blesses the dancefloors with a song called "I Know" produced by J-Trix. A real uptempo partystarter for sure. Seems like Richie has found his unique style on the mic - the vocals are really good and the riddim is specially made only for this song. Nice work!
Check out his Myspace-page here.

When it comes to new riddims I give you my two favourites right now. The first one is Battlefield although there are two riddims to get with that same name the one to look out for is definetley the Cordell "Scatta" Burrell-produced one. Strong cuts includes Sizzla's "Rapid" and "All About Dem" from Spragga Benz. A really nice danceriddim this. One of my favourites so far in 2007.

The second one comes from Lenky, who has mashed up the dancehall with Diwali, Masterpiece, Bubble Up and other innovative and much appreciated riddims. He has now returned with Synthetic. The riddim has an uptempo-feeling but is as a matter of fact not very fast. It has also got a really nice "westsideNWA&Dr.Dre-ish" synthsound that I absolutely love. Sometimes the artist does the tune, no matter what riddim and sometimes the opposite. The thing with Lenky though is that all tunes kind of works in perfect harmony with his riddims. As in most of Lenky's productions he tailors some tunes to be perfectly fitted to the artist songs. The songs standing out in my opinion are Elephant Man's highgrade-oozing "So High", Vybz Kartel's "Red Eye" and "Hot Gal Holiday" from Red Rat, who is back in effect! No selector should miss this one!

To finish the report for now here are four other hot tunes to check out:

  1. Shabba Ranks Feat. Fatta & Los - Burn up (Come Around)
  2. Elephant Man - Bring It (Taxi)
  3. Shaggy - Church Heathen
  4. Shaggy & Rayvon - Shaggy & Rayvon Show

Don't forget to listen to the show every Tuesday to get the latest reports.
That's all for now folks!
