The last Barhäng med Combat Sound was a blast! Rough Lynx played an absolutely awsome selection with so many big tunes - dubplate style and much more. Connaisseur Reggae-Anders actually said this was one of the best weekends reggae-wise in a real long time. Big ups to the "Reggae Klubben"-crew, Governor Andy (really nice release party on Friday) and of course to Rough Lynx and all our guests at Pleasant.

We're happy to announce that Combat's joined forces with Bus Stop Productions who will work as guest bloggers here on combatsound.com from now on. The duo who amongst many things are behind all videos that can be viewed when hanging out at Pleasant on Combat nights are currently working on serveral music videos and animation projects.

We're not really sure what to expect from the boys here but hopefully they'll complete their first post very soon and tell Ya'll more about it.

Mastah-L posted me this song by Sherlock reminding me of the old days when I first started spinning records. When I bought my first turnable (in 1997) I was actually all into house music but when Mastah-L, Super-Hasse, Jozef, J-Trix, Iman Russ, Million Stylez, Lill-Fredde, C-Riss and a few others formed the group Sound Addicts I started really enjoying hip-hop. The album "Made To Measure" by Sherlock was one of the first swedish hip-hop albums I ever heard and Mastah-L was the one who introduced me to it. Classic stuff.

"The Art Of Combat" - Thank You!

Seriously, last saturday really was one of the best nights we've had in a long time. We sold all paintings except one (don't ask me why no one invested in "Pang! Punktering..." cause I can't understand it) making a total of 4200 sek for Barncancerfonden! The big painting that was auctioned out by Governor Andy actually made 1700 sek alone!
The place was super-packed and the party was on til 3AM.

Combat says BIG UP to Jonas Svensson who did a fantastic job cooking such superb food, to Governor Andy for sweet vocals and entertaining (even though the sound got messed up later on and the mic refused to work. We're sorry about that), to Pleasant with staff for making the night flow smoothly and helping us make this happen and of course - all our guests who seriously mashed up the night with us! YOU ARE THE BEST!

The Art of Combat @ Pleasant in November!

Last weekend Nickelodeon, Chris Boss, Super-Hasse, FArsan and mr. Jocko came together to create individual artworks of 30x24 cm and one combo 100x100 cm piece. Gallery style!
The artworks will be auctioned out on Saturday the 8th of November at the barhäng at Pleasant to the highest bid. A night we call "The Art of Combat".
All incomes from the paintings will be given away to an organisation (we've not decided which one yet) that fights for human rights and the end of poverty and starvation.
Join us and have a fun night plus help people see a better day.

All the way from Malmö - it's Safari Sound! We're really happy to have them over and we can promise you a wicked night! We're pretty sure the place will be packed early so get there in time! The whole thing takes place on saturday the 11th of October. Flyer and more info soon.

Thanks goes out to all of You who came by Pleasant this saturday and made it a wicked night! Unfortunately our promised special guest Oskadus had to stay home since he got ill just a few days earlier but I'm sure we'll get a new chance to hear him spin Stereo Steppers dubplates in the future.

Our friends at Pleasant has given us the opportunity to keep on hosting the Barhäng on the second saturday every month for the whole season. Yea bwoiii!
Therefore right now we're working on some ideas to make the nights even better including guests from out of town, a welcome return and other fun stuff. Also, some sponsors have been involved. If You have any ideas or wishes You're welcome to post them here as all suggestions are welcome!

Jamtech release party!

Just heard from Mastah-L, one out of two producers from tech/house group Jamtech Foundation. They been working hard on releasing some heavy tracks lately and now they've put together a whole mixtape which will be released this friday. The mix features almost all songs made by the duo plus some never before released tracks. As a bonus the classic Combat remix "Eurokillah" is also featured in the mix. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!

The release party will be held at Berns, Stockholm friday the 29th of August. Style.

Mixtapetime again! Special thanks and big ups goes out to Chris from Ziontists Sound who created the cover for us (he's also the man behind the Combat Sound logo). Time for a new "old" mixtape! This one was put together in 2002 and I have to say that this one is in the top 3 of all mixes we've put together so far. A blend of remixes, dancehall and hiphop once again with big tunes from artists such as Vybz Kartel with one of his first hits on Jammys "Mexican Riddim", Innocent Crew with sort of a cover, a huge breakthrough-hit from Sean Paul and Ward 21 with some speedtoast to name a few. This one is exclusive and has never been released before but we're pretty sure You'll enjoy it!

Time for yet another mixtape. I've actually lost the cover for this one but in 2003 when it was released we had some copies at the Skank store in Stockholm. Perhaps some of You have the original cd left? If so we'd really appreciate if You found the time to scan the cover and mail it to us. Anyway, this one has got nuff heavy riddims on it. A dancehall mix straight up and down but still of course some hiphop and remixes as well. Enjoy!

I know that some people have been waiting for this update. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting but after five days of heavy drinking I had to go to rehab a couple of days...
Anyway...

Summerjam - drinks, smoke and music...

This was the third time we went down to Europes biggest reggaefestival. After beeing there two years before I knew that there was no chance that we would get to see all nice artists from the lineup so I focused on a few: Beres Hammond, Busy Signal, Shaggy, Mighty Crown, Pressure, Voicemail, Jah Cure and Mr Vegas.

Beres show was cancelled before the festival even started and replaced by Alpha Blondy (FlexBoss comment: Terrible!). I had really looked forward to seeing one of my favorite artists but I still hoped that Busy and Mighty Crown was gonna come up with something special.

Friday:

As usual we started of with having a beer at the place we call Indiern.

Then a taxi out to Fühlinger See where the festival is located. The mission for today was to see Busy Signal, Mr Vegas and check out the festival. Of course we also had to vicit our friends Keneisha and Percy in the foodplace outside the festival area. A video from that will be published here soon..

Arriving at Fuhlinger see everything seemed on top, the weather was great and people was as fullyloaded as I remember from last year. We hooked up with some of John's friends from Sweden outside the festival to have a drink or two...

Marie, Tom, Fredrik, Bianca, Jenny, Anne and some more guys. It's always nice too meet some new cool people and I'm really glad that I had the chance to hang out with those guys a couple of days! Big up to all of you for making the festival a little bit better!

After too many hours and tooooo many drinks outside we decided too move in for Busy Signal.
I met up with Youthman from boomwahdis.blogspot.com and went to the show. Busy really mashed up the place! Must say that I was a little bit surpised that he was that good live.

Next one on stage was Vegas. Me and Youthman now linked up Sanjin and Crill-Oh and we all went back to check it out. Mr Vegas kicked hits from now and then and also made a real good concert. Since I've seen Vegas before I didn't appreciate it as much as the Busy Signal consert but it was good still.

The first day of Summerjam 2008 was finished and it was just as nice as I remembered it from last years.

Saturday.
Today we decided that we were going for the festival earlier than what we used to. So we went down to a polish guy a few blocks from the hotell too buy some beers and smirnoff. When we came to the festival we met the rest of the people from the day before at the same spot outside the festival.

After a while I met up with Youthman again to see Jah Cure. We went down to the big scen and checked him out for a couple of songs, kind of boring consert or maybe it was me that still was in a lame mode from the day before.

Youthman who is one of Örebro's best dancers was thrilled to see Voicemail on the other stage so we moved on. After a while at the Voicemail show we looked at ourselves and the rest of the crowed and realized that nobody seemed hyped. Voicemail worked hard on stage too get people to follow them with dances etc. People were still lame. Probably it was a mistake to put an act like Voicemail so early in the saturdays lineup, they did a good show but the crowd didn't.

After Voicemail, Alaine and Pressure was going for their shows, I stayed and saw a few songs and then went back to Apaco and John who was focusing on drinking.

Time for Shaggy and then Mighty Crown!

After a couple of hours with two heavydrinkers like Apaco and John I was back on track. Fullyloaded and ready for Shaggy on the big stage. Shaggy was (as Reggae-Anders said after the show) alot of pop but still really good. He mixed big mainstreem hits with last years toptunes like Church Heathen etc. The show was nice but my mainfocus this night was to come now.

Mighty Crown - The Far East Rulers was going to enter the stage in the Soundquake tent. I went down there and it wasn't a big surprise that the tent was overfilled with soundboys and girls. I didn't have any choice, even if some people had to get hurt I was going in too see it. And I did, and nobody got hurt. Mighty Crown gave us all what to expect from the world champions.

The saturday was as good as I hoped, Mighty Crown did push Summerjam 2008 to a whole new level.

Sunday:

Waking up on a sunday is often a less funny thing after drinking the day before. After drinking for four days it's no fun at all... Like every year at Summerjam it is not so sure that you will make it to the festival on the sunday but after a looooong day at the hotel we did... When the last artist, Stephen Marley was on stage we rolled back into the festival and as you might understand we missed all shows this day. All because of that golden delicious beer...

Summerjam is over for this year and I can promise you that if we make it there next year I will stay to a maximum four beers and one longdrink per night (FlexBoss comment: Good luck with that!).

Since we're such kind persons we thought we'd sum up some recently made mixtapes for You to enjoy. Some have been released here on the blog before and some through other channels. A reason why we do this is to get You ready for the upcoming second part of the 2008 FeelGoodMix where Combat Sound joins forces with Stereo Steppers Hi-Power.

The "Vintage Selection"-mix includes nuff classics from early Studio 1. Selected by Mastah-L.

Another one put together by Mastah-L. This time stricktly tunes from the Channel One studio.

This is the first "FeelGoodMix" recorded in 2005. The motto is nice vibes and easy listening.

Second "FeelGoodMix" from 2006. Continuing in the same style as the first but more tracks.

The latest volume put together in 2008. Nuff big tunes and vibes. Enjoy!

Nickelodeon straight outta SummerJam!

While FlexBoss is home in Sweden cursing his lack of vacation Nickelodeon and Apaco Inc. hangs out at their fourstar hotel in Köln waiting for the festival to kick off. As a punishment for living the good life Nickelodeon will post updates and pictures of what's going on at the festival and on their vacation here on the blog.

In the meantime FlexBoss and Oskadus from Stereo Steppers prepares the selection for the second "FeelGoodMix"-volume...

Today the flight leaves to Summerjam, one of the biggest reggae festivals in the world and Combat will be there to take part of the action. The line-up looks really nice (check it out above) and you can expect a full report from Nickelodeon when he's back. Probably Combat will be hanging out in Soundquake's huge tent where Mighty Crown, Sentinel and other big sounds will be taking care of the entertainment.

Coming up is a mixtape collaboration for a second volume of 2008 years "FeelGoodMix". Be on the lookout for that very soon.

The Rock is the new club arranged by Bonafide, one of the forces behind Vibes46 Radio. It's a weekly club taking place every friday focused stricktly on reggae and dancehall. We like! The line-up looks mad and hopefully not only sounds from Stockholm but also from other parts of the country will be brought to the capital to mash things up.

On friday the 27th of June Combat Sound takes over the decks at The Rock and brings You our best selection in oldschool dancehall, loversrock, roots and about any other style of reggae music. It's bashment time and we're gonna mash it up with style for real!

Summerstyle!

Not very much activity here on the blog in the past couple of days and we're sorry about that. Summer has hit Stockholm and we've been busy relaxing in the sun and skateing. That's right, Combat is "back on board" for the first time in about 10 years.
Anyway, we've some gigs coming up:
First of all we're back at Pleasant Saturday the 28th of June and ofcourse you're invited to hang out at their fresh and new outdoorpart sippin' some nice cool mojitos and enjoying great music. The day before (friday the 27th of June) we've been asked by mr. Bonafide to put on a set at his new venue. A secret so far but keep your eyes and ears open.
